The next stop after the momentous LA premiere was Memphis, Tennessee. Team Memphis was composed of Memphis’ best streetball players: Shan Mann aka Air Memphis, Andrew Riley aka Young AR, Kenny Sutherland aka Sipp, Paxton Jackson aka PC, William McGhae aka Will Tha Thrill, Markecio Beal aka 6’5 Wit Dreds, Andre Burton aka Dre Day and James Jackson aka James Too Cold, who was so slick, we’re still looking for our Ball Up Jersey from him.

For the first half of the game, Team Memphis showed up to represent their hometown while our Ball Up team started off a little sluggish on the court. 6’5 Wit Dreds hit eight 3-pointers while Air Memphis showed off with a few nice dunks as well. The slow start from Ball Up resulted in Team Memphis leading at half time with a score of 54 – 50.

The second half, Ball Up seemed to be a bit more warmed up as Go Get It scored nailed a couple back-to-back. On the Memphis side, PC scored with a strong dunk, showing that they were not going to hold back. Special FX answered back with a one-handed dunk. The tone of the game got real serious and both teams were ready to put on a show. “It’s like our guys remembered what they were here for” says Ball Up GM Cam Murray. Special FX’s alley-oop dunk on Young AR was definitely the highlight of the second half. FX caught the ball so far back that Young AR had to try to save himself from embarrassment. Immediately after Young AR got banged on, he stripped off his shorts and jersey, jumped over the barricade, left the game and ran out of the building. Not only did that play hype up the Memphis crowd, it got the Ball Up team motivated. From that point on, there was nothing that could stop the Ball Up squad and the result was a convincing win over the Memphis Team, 128 – 109.
